The next great DC bar experience won’t be focused on pouring drafts or crafting cocktails. Helmed by Anthony Dale of Fatherhood Wines, Père Wine Bar is preparing to welcome a whole new audience to the world of vino later this year-complete with delicious sips and a warm atmosphere.

The distinctive concept will be inviting the community to enjoy a glass of their favorite red or white at 7010 Georgia Avenue, N.W. According to paperwork filed with the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration, the space will have seating for up to 19 guests inside. In addition, a summer garden will be able to accommodate 26 visitors.

Père Wine Bar will be opening in plenty of time for patrons to enjoy the outdoor space; Dale tells What Now DC that he anticipates opening on June 15.

While wine culture is often perceived as aloof and elitist, Dale wants Père to help reframe that notion, making vino the centerpiece of a unifying experience between old and new friends. He states: ”At its core, Père Wine Bar is about creating space—space to slow down, connect, and be seen. My vision is for it to feel like a warm, intentional gathering spot where community thrives over a shared love of good wine and meaningful conversation. Think of it as a modern-day Cheers—reminiscent of the show—where everybody knows your name, or at least someone remembers your favorite glass.”

More than just a place to sip a glass of cabernet, Père is an opportunity to shine a light on demographics often underrepresented in the wine community, while also embracing the qualities that unite us all. Dale sums up his intentions with the establishment beautifully, saying: “We’re focused on celebrating BIPOC- and women-owned winemakers while honoring the legacy of fatherhood, family, and connection. I hope Père becomes that go-to place where people feel at home—whether they’re stopping in after work or raising a glass to life’s milestones.”
