The former Little Italy Food Hall at 550 W. Date Street will be completely reimagined and relaunched in Fall 2025 as an all-new, multi-concept dining venue in the bustling Piazza della Famiglia.
Located in what LoveFood named California’s “best food neighborhood” in 2024, the high-profile space—nestled between India and Columbia Streets on the ground floor of the Vici apartment building—will offer a bold new vision for public dining in San Diego, a representative from Tiger Hospitality tells What Now San Diego. The new 4,685-square-foot venue will feature five distinct culinary concepts, an expansive indoor-outdoor bar, and a European piazza-inspired atmosphere that spills into the 10,000-square-foot cobblestone plaza.
Signature features will include a large window for guests and passersby to watch fresh pasta being made daily, a new centrally positioned bar that connects the indoors with the plaza, and various indoor and outdoor seating options ideal for lingering over lunch, cocktails, or dessert. Beyond dining, the revitalized space will serve as a vibrant cultural hub with daily live cooking demos, music performances, holiday celebrations, and seasonal events to activate the Piazza, which received 1.1 million visits in 2024, to engage the local community and the visitors that pass through its cobblestone streets.
This is the latest from Tiger Hospitality, known for popular concepts like Cosmos Burger, Lobster Lab, and La Vida (at Windmill Food Hall)—all of which will anchor the new lineup in Little Italy. Award-winning BASILE Studio has been tapped to redesign the space, focusing on integrating the venue into the flow of the Piazza and elevating the overall guest experience. This Little Italy project comes as Tiger Hospitality prepares to open Miramar Food Hall in the historic Miramar Theatre complex in San Clemente, California, this summer.
