Founded in New York City by owner Michelle Dell—and a Las Vegas favorite for almost twenty years—Hogs & Heifers Saloon will have its last day of business at 201 N Third Street this July 6. It’s a bittersweet twenty-year-anniversary for the concept’s Vegas location, which is now search of a new home, according to coverage by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
As the property changes hands, Dell is already searching for a new home, which the RJ coverage says will be “a nearby downtown location,” opening “by 2026 ‘at the latest.’”
It could be a long hiatus, but until July 6, there’s still time to hang out at Hogs & Heifers and check out an experience that was first offered all the way back in 1992 in New York.
“Hogs & Heifers Saloon opened for business on the day after Thanksgiving in November 1992 with Michelle behind the bar,” says the bar’s website. “The early days were tough, mostly because there were no customers, and therefore no money. That being said, there was also no heat and Michelle would come to work wearing leather halter tops in the dead of winter, and with the always wet floor (rubber floor mats were not in the budget yet) Michelle’s motorcycle boot clad feet were cold, wet and covered in cement!”
In other words, this longstanding bar has had to rough it before; it can do it again.
What Now reached out to Michelle Dell on Friday to inquire about plans for the closing and the move. Dell was not immediately available for comment.
Stay tuned for updates as Hogs & Heifers nails down its new location.
