Bonanno’s New York Pizzeria is a household name on the streets of the Las Vegas Valley. The Italian eatery can be found in casinos and hotels throughout the Strip; now, the brand is embarking on opening another restaurant at yet another Las Vegas Strip property. According to a Clark County permit, the new Bonanno’s New York Pizzeria is planned for the Excalibur Hotel and Casino at 3850 Las Vegas Blvd S.
The permit does not show a date of license, so it’s unclear how long this opening has been in the works. It does, however, list Bonanno Food Courts II, LLC as the owner. At the helm of the LLC and the brand is Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group, run by the owner and founder of Bonanno’s New York Pizzeria, Frank Bonanno.
What Now Las Vegas reached out to Bonanno to find out more about the exciting expansion. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“Bonanno’s New York Pizza Kitchen is your destination for Artisanal New York Style Pizza. Blending old-world secrets, New York technique, and modern technology, BNYPK offers a pizza experience like no other,” the Bonannao’s New York Pizzeria website reads.
“We pride ourselves on only using the best and freshest ingredients to build your pizza with lots of love. From the first bite, you will immediately notice how crispy, airy, and tender our artisan-built dough is due to our choice to import and exclusively use Caputo flour.”
Hailing from Bergen County, New Jersey, to a family of Sicilian and Tuscan heritage, Bonanno originally pursued a finance degree from the University of Denver, graduating in 1990. Deciding instead to follow his passion for food, he attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and honed his skills staging at legendary coastal restaurants like Gramercy Tavern and The French Laundry. His premier flagship French-influenced fine dining room, Mizuna, opened in 2001 and became a runaway success, and remains a legendary city staple.
Bonanno’s New York Pizzeria was founded and first opened in Las Vegas by Bonanno’s Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group, with its early footprint on the Las Vegas Strip dating back over a decade before 2010.
There are now a total of six Bonanno’s New York Pizzeria (also known as Bonanno’s New York Pizza Kitchen) locations, consisting of 4 Strip casinos and 2 off-strip neighborhood spots. All of the eateries are run by Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group, and many are within the food courts of casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.
What Now also reached out to the Vice President of Operations for the Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group, Jon Newton, to find out more details about the upcoming opening. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“Specialized in Las Vegas casino food court development and quick-serve restaurant innovations, Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group also manages and coordinates the hosting of special gatherings such as rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, corporate holiday parties and other types of business events,” the Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group website reads.
“Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group operates more than forty restaurants in the Las Vegas area, including the food courts at the MGM Grand, the Venetian, New York New York, the Flamingo Hotel, the Luxor Hotel, the Bally’s Hotel, the Excalibur Hotel, the Monte Carlo Casino, and the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. We also operate in Downtown Summerlin, where our famous Trattoria Reggiano and Bonanno’s Restaurant & Bar establishments are located.”
