According to the San Francisco Business Times, Dandelion Chocolate plans to debut a new outpost in the Marina District.
Coming to 2072 Chestnut Street, taking over a space formerly home to The Woodbridge Salon, the cafe will land near establishments such as the brunch spot Blackwood, Delarosa Marina, and the bar Horseshoe Tavern.
“The street is great,” the company’s CEO, Todd Masonis, tells the Journal. He adds, “I think about Hayes Valley, where there are a lot of cool spaces with interesting backyards. And I think if we could do something like that for Chestnut, make it a little more interesting, that would be very exciting.”
The upcoming Chestnut Street spot will mark Dandelion Chocolate’s sixth spot in San Francisco — joining its factory and cafe on 16th Street, an outpost on Valencia Street, its spot at the Ferry Building, a store on Fillmore Street, and its pop-up on Union Street.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the company, Dandelion Chocolate was founded in 2010 and offers chocolate, chocolate-based pastries, and coffee.
“With only two ingredients in our chocolate, we can’t hide behind added flavors. The beans must speak for themselves, and each bar is able to stand on its own with a distinct flavor and character. Every time we get a new set of beans, we spend weeks tinkering with different flavor profiles on our machinery to land on the approach we believe creates the best representation of those beans,” the business shares on its website.
“It’s a lot of work going into doing scenarios and forecasting and planning, as opposed to just making chocolate… So that’s kind of been a distraction. But it comes with the territory,” Masonis shares.
An opening date has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
