Something is brewing in Seattle.

Boon Boona Coffee is opening a new cafe downtown at the Overlook Walk this summer.

“Overlook Walk is more than just a new public space–it’s a reimagined connection between downtown Seattle and the Waterfront, built where the Viaduct once stood. A place where people can stroll through and gather all while taking in one of the best views in the city,” Boon Boona Coffee said via Instagram.

While the building is still in the works, founder Efrem Fesaha told What Now Seattle, “We’re definitely excited to enjoy some of this summer weather. We’ll be on Overlook throughout the buildout with a coffee cart to introduce ourselves to the community.”

Inspired by his Eritrean family’s traditional coffee ceremony and a formative trip to Asmara, Fesaha developed a deep appreciation for East African coffee culture—where coffee is more than just a drink; it’s a cherished ritual bringing people together.

With Boon Boona Coffee, Fesaha aims to celebrate and share the unique flavors and traditions of East Africa, inviting customers to experience coffee as a communal and cultural experience.

In addition to enjoying fresh brews in-store, customers can purchase Boon Boona’s signature blends online or sign up for a roasted coffee subscription, with deliveries available weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

\While an official opening date has yet to be announced, the cafe is expected to open in summer 2025. For the latest updates, follow Boon Boona on Instagram and Facebook.
