A pair of sister restaurants in Tacoma’s Stadium District are changing ownership—and while one will remain as-is, the other is getting a new identity.

Indo Asian Street Eatery and Moshi Ramen Bar, which opened in 2015 and 2018 respectively, have been sold to new owner Kevin Merrell, The News Tribune reported. The two transactions were finalized separately but involved the same buyer. Merrell purchased the restaurants from owners Yu Nanakornphanom and Bouy Ngov.

Indo will continue serving its popular Southeast Asian fusion menu with no major changes. Merrell officially took over management in December, with his wife, Thip Merrell, now working in the kitchen.

Moshi, however, will undergo a full transformation. Its final day of service was May 10. The ramen bar, known for its variety of ramen styles, small plates, dumplings and izakaya-inspired fare, will be replaced by a new concept.

Merrell told the outlet he plans to open an “authentic Thai” restaurant in its place. Further details, including a name and opening timeline, have not yet been announced, though the new eatery is expected to be in a similar price range as Indo.

The two restaurants share a basement for prep and storage, which Merrell said makes the new concept a natural fit.

State records show Merrell filed for business licenses in January and updated liquor licenses in February.

Indo will maintain its regular hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

What Now Seattle has reached out to Merrell for more information on the upcoming concept but has not yet received a response.
