This year when summer winds down the Ardmore dining scene will be heating up, with an assist from a growing chain. Dig Inn, a concept with its eyes firmly fixed on comfort food prepared freshly, is opening a new location in Suburban Square and it’s on track to open before the fall sets in, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The restaurant will bring some solace to locals still mourning the closure of Hip City Veg; Dig Inn is breathing new life into the 1,785 square foot space at 76 Coulter Avenue that the vegetarian favorite previously occupied. While a precise opening date is not yet available, the Suburban Square website states that Dig Inn should be open and operational by “late summer”.

Founded in 2011, Dig Inn started life as “Dig Inn”, dropped the “Inn” and was just “Dig”, and now seems to have returned to “Dig Inn”. While the name may not have been constant, the company’s commitment to well-made comfort food has. The website explains the chain’s mission, stating: “For us, cooking is about more than just preparing meals. It’s a mastery, a craft, a meditation, a way of bringing people together, a way of traveling while never leaving your zip code. It’s a life skill. That’s why we started DIG: we knew we wanted to champion home-cooking in a way that hadn’t been done [to scale] before. No artful foams or tweezer food—we wanted to strip back the theatricality of restaurant culture to do something real. You can see it in how we run our kitchens, in the food we cook, and in the way we serve your meals”
