A New York-style deli is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location this summer in Charleston.

The Wedge will be located at 2487 Ashley River Rd. and will serve as an extension of the popular food truck launched by chef Gerry Meehan and his wife, Erin Sorbanelli. The couple relocated to the Lowcountry from Westchester County, New York, according to The Post and Courier.

Known for its chicken cutlet sandwiches, The Wedge offers customer favorites like the classic chicken, buffalo chicken, vodka parm, Caesar salad wrap, meatball parm and chopped cheese. The menu also includes double-stacked burgers with grilled onions and a signature “Wedge sauce.”

“With the new space, we’ll have more creative freedom to expand our offerings, refine our craft, and bring you even more of the favorites you love,” the owners shared on Instagram. “And don’t worry, our food truck will still be operating as usual at all our favorite spots!”

What Now Charleston reached out to the owners regarding the new storefront, however they have not yet responded.

The new storefront will operate as a grab-and-go spot for breakfast and lunch sandwiches before closing in the afternoon. The food truck will then take over for evening service.

The food truck has made regular stops around the Lowcountry, including recent appearances at Hobcaw Brewing Co. in Mount Pleasant and House of Brews in West Ashley.

An exact opening date has not yet been announced, but the couple is aiming for late July or early August. For updates, follow The Wedge on social media.
