Chubby Cattle is a restaurant chain with multiple locations in the country. The chain offers three main concepts across its locations: hotpot, barbecue, and shabu shabu. Chubby Cattle’s Little Tokyo barbecue location underwent a health inspection on Friday.
The inspecting officer noted violations like improper handwashing and no use of gloves by the restaurant staff. Inspectors observed gross contamination of food contact surfaces. The person in charge failed to demonstrate required knowledge of food safety.
The officer also observed vermin infestation within the facility. The storage conditions of equipment and utensils were not as per good retail practices. The facility lacked a food safety certificate and adequate handwashing facilities. Hot and cold food holding temperatures were not being followed by the staff.
Due to the number of critical violations, the restaurant was temporarily closed.
Every food establishment in Los Angeles County must comply with the California Health and Safety Code. Chubby Cattle’s Little Tokyo location was found to be out of compliance and may reopen once all violations are corrected.
