Maman has “coming soon” signage up at a new location. It will open at 71 Broadway in the Financial District. The French-inspired bakery and cafe concept has been expanding in the New York market, announcing plans for a flagship location in the Flatiron District earlier this year.

Benjamin Sormonte and Elisa Marshall founded Maman in SoHo in 2014. It now has locations in multiple markets in the U.S. and Canada, with more than 40 locations across New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, New Jersey and Montreal.

The brand draws inspiration from the South of France and aims to be a prime neighborhood stop for New Yorkers. While design elements vary from location to location, they often include  “rustic décor at every turn, the aroma and comfort of cuisines inspired by family traditions and the highest quality ingredients,” according to the Maman website. Elements like rustic exposed brick, wooden farm tables and their blue-and-white china bring the Maman atmosphere to life.

The cafe-bakery serves coffee, tea, sandwiches, salads, pastries and breakfast items. Menu items include quiche, smashed avocado tartine, a ham and cheese croissant sandwich and pastries such as the “everything croissant.”

Maman is also expanding into new markets, recently signing a lease in Charlotte to prepare for its North Carolina debut.
