French baking will soon arrive in Northville and Rochester next month.

Two new MK Cannelle locations have been listed on the bakery’s website including 156 N Center Street in Northville and 4480 Orion Road in Rochester. The new spots will serve as bakeries, as well as coffee shops. According to owner and chef Matt Knio, he is looking at opening either the first or second week of September.

Knio said he started looking at new locations in the suburbs around seven months ago. Now, he needs to get permits for the new bakeries which leads into construction. On the company website, it says Knio broke ground on the Northville location this year, and there is no word on grand opening dates yet.

Knio grew up in France, and after he became the head pastry chef at Michigan’s Ritz Carleton he decided to open his own bakery. He launched his first Cannelle Cafe in 2013. Now, he has six locations with two coming soon.

Some of the favored baked goods include butter and chocolate croissants, 1-pound loaves of bread, fraisier cake, tiramisu, tarts and more. The locations also sell breakfast sandwiches, salads and grab n’ go items. Along with in-store, orders can be made online.

The Northville location will be right in the city’s downtown area, near Rebecca’s Family Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor and Center Street Grille. And the Rochester location looks to be going in at the corner of Orion and Gallagher roads.

More information on the upcoming locations can be found on the company website mkcannelle.com.
