A new reason to eat, drink, and be merry is coming to Old Sacramento.

Haus of Comedy is setting down roots at 200 K St with its first permanent venue. Founded in 2023 by Jessilee Windhaus and now co-owned with Andy Sarouhan and Nick Armstrong, the comedy collective has built a following through pop-up shows at spots like The Geery Theater.

The new space will serve as a lively hub where guests can sip, snack, and settle in for an evening of improv, stand-up, and more.

“We believe that comedy is more than just entertainment—it is a catalyst for happiness, connection, and community,” Windhaus told What Now Sacramento. “Our mission is to empower people of all backgrounds to play, grow, and connect through inclusive, high-quality comedy and performance experiences—cultivating laughter, creativity, and community in a vibrant space where joy and personal growth thrive.”

The 2,500-square-foot space will feature a 50-seat theater, a classroom for improv workshops, and a lounge with a full bar and food menu. Expect a selection of light bites, plus beer, wine, and cocktails to keep the laughs flowing.

The move will allow Haus of Comedy to expand from a few shows a month to a full schedule of five to six nights of entertainment each week. In addition to performances, the team will continue its popular improv classes, “drop-in” workshops for beginners, workplace training sessions, and private coaching.

Accessibility will be a priority, too. “We’re glad that Old Sacramento is committed to making spaces there accessible for folks with mobility devices or disabilities and we plan on doing this in our space as well, ensuring everyone is welcome,” said Windhaus. “We are very excited to bring notable improv performance groups from out of town and especially to showcase the incredible and talented community of improv performers we have here in Sacramento.”

The grand opening weekend is set for January 23-25, 2026, with a full lineup of shows and workshops. Until then, comedy enthusiasts can join drop-in workshops on Saturdays at 11 a.m. at The Ooley Theater. Fans can also follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, or visit the Haus of Comedy website for updates.
