According to a recently submitted permit application, the national restaurant chain Piada Italian Street Food plans to open a new outpost in the San Antonio area, this time in Schertz.
Coming to 18430 I-35 N, the eatery will land near establishments such as the coffee shop Dunkin’ Donuts, the fast-casual restaurant Salata, and the pizza shop Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse.
What Now San Antonio reached out to the co-CEO of the company, Lance Juhas, to learn more about his plans for the upcoming location; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing reveals that interior renovations to the existing 2,697-square-foot space are scheduled to begin on September 30 and to be completed by December 5. The Lexington, Kentucky-based firm The Roberts Group is managing the $500,000 project.
The business shares a glimpse into how it got started on its website: “It was on a trip to Rimini, Italy, where our chefs found inspiration in the distinct charm of the roadside food trucks and corner markets that served centuries-old family recipes. As the aromas of fresh basil and cured meats wafted through the air, we shared some of the most satisfying handmade meals that were made with some of the simplest, freshest ingredients. At that moment, we knew we had to capture the essence of Rimini and bring it back to the United States.”
Piada was founded by Chris Doody in Columbus, Ohio, in 2010. The business now operates nearly 60 outposts across Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
The menu offers a selection of pastas, piada wraps, salads, protein bowls, and a newly added item, piada pockets — stuffed with spicy Italian sausage and peppers, grass-fed meatballs, and marinara or spinach, artichoke, and Italian cheeses before being baked.
