One Orland Park baker is bringing desserts and fresh bread to the southwest suburb.
From a recent Chicago Tribune article, Ghada Muhsen will be opening her new concept Neima Coffee and Cafe bakery at 317 Front Street in Lemont later this year. This will be a family run cafe in the suburb’s downtown area. Muhsen told What Now Chicago right now she is looking at a November opening.
The inspiration for Muhsen’s cooking came from watching her grandparents prepare meals in Palestine. Her parents are cooks as well, and she helped out in their restaurant after emigrating to Virginia. Muhsen has kept the tradition of cooking with her family, and this is her first business venture.
According to Muhsen, along with baked goods and coffee there will be soups, salads, and gourmet items on the menu. Knafeh, a popular Middle Eastern dessert with cheese filling and phyllo dough, is also planned for the menu. She takes inspiration from her time at Moraine Valley Community College where she majored in nutrition.
Neima Bakery is in the same building as the Next Mex, a local Mexican eatery. It is across the Illinois and Michigan canal from many of the bars and restaurants in the downtown area. The status of construction is not known right now.
Muhsen has been planning her bakery and cafe for the better part of a year. She is now in the process of training employees before an opening can take place. More information on the opening will be released in the coming weeks.
