A new café and craft collective is taking root in South Sacramento’s Fairgrounds Plaza shopping mall.

Fair Grounds Coffee & Crafts is currently under construction at 4603 Broadway, Suite C, and is tenatively scheduled to open in December 2025 or January 2026. The worker cooperative is being launched by partners Sav Moore and Connor McAnlis, along with three of their friends.

“We started leasing a suite in May and have been working on a significant remodel,” Moore told What Now Sacramento, noting that the precise opening date is still difficult to pin down during construction.

The menu will highlight all the usual coffeehouse suspects, from espresso-based drinks and drip coffee to chai and matcha. Fresh-baked muffins, cookies, and other treats will come straight from the shop’s small in-house oven.

True to its name, Fair Grounds Coffee & Crafts will also feature handmade goods created by the worker-owners themselves. Moore, for example, makes pottery, and among the five members, a wide range of artisan crafts will be available for purchase.

The shop aims to be as much a creative hub as it is a café, giving customers a chance to sip coffee while supporting local makers. Be sure to follow @coffee.crafts.sacramento on Facebook and Instagram for sneak peeks and opening updates.
