The Eggwala, a restaurant inspired by the vibrant egg street food culture of Surat, India, is getting ready to open in Toronto.

The new concept is expected to welcome customers by the end of October, according to a company representative, although the exact address has yet to be publicly announced. The new restaurant will introduce Torontonians to a bold and unique take on Indian-style egg dishes. The concept is led by owner Lokesh Sharma, who is overseeing the launch. Customers can expect an egg-focused menu featuring spicy gravies, creative sandwiches, and comforting vegetarian street food inspired by Western India.

While this is the first Canadian location, The Eggwala draws directly from the well-known Surti food tradition, known for its flavorful, egg-based recipes served in casual settings. Sharma’s goal is to replicate that energy while adding modern touches and variety. The menu is entirely vegetarian, with eggs as the star ingredient in a wide range of street-style creations.

The Eggwala aims to stand out in the Toronto dining scene by focusing on a niche concept that blends nostalgia, comfort food, and innovation. From quick bites to heavier dishes, the restaurant is designed to serve both casual diners and those looking for something new in the growing Indian fusion space. Indoor seating and a casual counter-service setup are expected.

Menu highlights include the Egg Locho, Solid Masti Mayo Pav, and the 7 Cheesy Sandwich, along with several variations of gravies, fries, and toast dishes. The focus is on high-flavor and shareable street food-style plates, prepared fresh and served hot.
