Jersey Mike’s Subs, a national sandwich chain known for its freshly sliced subs made to order, is getting ready to open in San Diego at 3005 Clairemont Drive.
The company’s newest location is set to move into the current home of Starbucks, which is expected to close as part of a broader corporate downsizing affecting underperforming stores nationwide. While an exact opening date has not been announced, permit filings show the project has been under city review for over six months. Once approved, the buildout will take approximately three months.
“The plans are still in with the city for review,” Cathy Brown, Area Director for Jersey Mike’s Subs, tells What Now San Diego. “They have been there for over six months. Once we have permits, we are about three months out. The permitting process is taking a very long time! It will be a franchised location, not corporate-owned.”
The upcoming Bay Park restaurant will be owned and operated by franchisee Sean Patton, marking his first Jersey Mike’s franchise in San Diego County. Customers can expect Jersey Mike’s classic menu of cold and hot subs, all served “Mike’s Way” with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar, and spices.
Jersey Mike’s was founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, and has since expanded to over 4,000 locations across the United States. The brand is known for its emphasis on quality ingredients, including in-store cooked meats, freshly baked bread, and premium cheeses. This location will be the latest addition to Jersey Mike’s growing presence in Southern California.
Jersey Mike’s continues to stand out in the quick-service space with its focus on community involvement. The company has raised over $113 million for local charities through its annual Month of Giving and supports national initiatives with Feeding America, the USTA Foundation, and Special Olympics.
