A popular sub chain is set to open a new Seminole location this winter, expanding its reach in the area.
Firehouse Subs will open at 10753 Park Blvd., led by owner-operator Colin Means, who told What Now Tampa the shop is expected to welcome its first customers on December 29.
Means, a Tampa-area franchisee, owns five other Firehouse Subs locations across Pinellas County and plans to expand further in 2026. He started with the brand at 21 as a team member, worked his way up to general manager and became a franchisee in 2020, according to QSR Magazine.
The shop offers subs like the “Hook & Ladder”, with turkey, ham and Monterey Jack; the “Firehouse Captain’s Club”, a spicy chicken sub with bacon and the chain’s signature Hero Sauce; and the “Engineer”, with turkey, Swiss and mushroom. Classics such as the Italian and meatball hoagie are also available, along with a create-your-own option.
“People come back again and again because, unlike other sub places, we steam our meats and cheeses, releasing a rush of flavors, then stuff a serving that’s way over code on one of our toasted private-recipe sub rolls,” the website reads.
Brothers and former firefighters Chris and Robin Sorensen founded Firehouse Subs nearly 30 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, drawing on their family’s long history in fire and police service.
In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, the duo traveled to Mississippi to feed first responders and survivors. Soon after, they started the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which provides equipment, disaster relief, education, scholarships and support for military members.
Firehouse Subs has 1,400 locations open, with Means launching the milestone store and more openings planned. For updates, visit the shop’s website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook.
