Japadog, a Japanese-style hotdog franchise known for its creative East-meets-West menu, is getting ready to open in Mississauga at Square One Shopping Centre.
The company’s third GTA location is expected to open in late November 2025, with an exact date yet to be announced, according to Insauga. It will be situated in Food Central, between Jimmy the Greek and Taco Bell. Owner Noriki Tamura founded the company in Vancouver in 2005 after immigrating from Japan, building the brand around the idea of “delivering happiness and joy” through hot dogs with unique Japanese flavors.
The brand’s expansion into Mississauga follows the success of its Toronto locations at 509 Yonge Street and The Well at 486 Front Street West. Each site reflects Japadog’s casual, fast-service model while offering a menu that blends Japanese street-food influences with classic North American comfort food. The Square One opening brings the brand’s signature offerings to one of Ontario’s busiest shopping destinations.
Japadog’s menu features a variety of specialty hot dogs, including the Yakisoba Dog, Teriyaki Tartar Dog, and Avocado Shrimp Dog, as well as pork, beef, and veggie options. Guests can also enjoy Japanese comfort foods, including takoyaki (octopus balls), fries, poutine, grilled corn, and soups. The brand has also developed dessert items such as matcha parfaits, ice cream, and Japanese-style sundaes, expanding its appeal beyond traditional street fare.
Since its beginnings as a single hotdog stand on the streets of Vancouver, Japadog has become a recognizable name in Canada’s quick-service scene. The company has earned media attention and celebrity endorsements, particularly during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, when long lines and global exposure helped solidify its reputation as an innovative food concept.
The Square One expansion represents Japadog’s continued commitment to growing across North America. “Before we begin any new projects, we always envision greater customer experiences and happiness in mind,” according to the company’s website. “Our mission is delivering dreams, happiness, and excitement to the world through hot dogs.”
