Urgent Recall of Food To Live Products Issued

Food To Live, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has issued an urgent recall. The recall covers two products: Organic Moringa Leaf Powder and Organic Supergreens Powder Mix. Both products may be contaminated with Salmonella and should be discarded right away.

Multiple illnesses were reported, which were soon investigated by the FDA. FDA testing identified Salmonella in a specific supplier lot of the Organic Moringa Powder.

The company was notified of an outbreak of salmonellosis linked to the product. The recall was initiated soon after, and Food To Live immediately ceased the distribution of the specific product.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in people. Healthy adults typically experience fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and similar symptoms. However, for children, the frail and the elderly may experience more serious and fatal repercussions.

In rare cases, the bacteria can enter the bloodstream and lead to serious complications like arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.

Recalled Product Descriptions

Food To Live issued a recall for two products, distributed nationwide through retail and wholesale channels. It was also sold directly from the company’s website and shipped to customers across the country.

The product was also available on third-party e-commerce sites, including Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Target, Etsy, and eBay. Additionally, bulk quantities of the affected lot were sold to food manufacturers and other businesses through the company’s wholesale division. Below are the affected products:

  • Organic Supergreens Powder Mix: Packed in 8-ounce, 1-pound, 1.5-pound, 3-pound, 6-pound, and 12-pound bags.

The products were packed in plastic stand-up bags of these sizes. The recall only includes products that have lot codes starting with SO-69006 and ending with SO-72558. No other products or lots are involved in the recall.

Consumers should not use the recalled items. They are urged to dispose of or return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Online shoppers can contact Food To Live directly for a refund or replacement.
