Gorman & Company is set to break ground on The Tapestry, a five-story development in Uptown Denver. The real estate developer and The Colorado Health Foundation (CHF) recently announced the project’s financial closing and start of construction. The 72 affordable apartment homes will include an on-site health clinic and an early learning center for residents.
A New Affordable Housing Community in Uptown Denver
Gorman & Company is partnering with The Colorado Health Foundation to develop a new multi-generational affordable housing community at 18th and Pennsylvania in Uptown Denver.
Situated close to downtown, developers of The Tapestry are ready to construct 72 well-designed apartment units. These will be served to Denver households that make between 30% to 80% of the Area Median Income. One-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom unit choices will be offered to residents at the latest development.
The Tapestry aims to provide residents with accessible, equitable housing and long-term stability in Uptown Denver.
Gorman Architecture is the architect of the latest Uptown Denver project. Deneuve Construction Services is the general contractor for The Tapestry. Gorman Property Management will handle the management of the project once completed.
On-Site Community Resources at The Tapestry
In addition to apartments, the ground floor will include two key community resources. The first one is Mile High Early Learning Center, which is set to provide early childhood education. The second on-site resource is the Uptown Clinic, which will offer residents and neighbors accessible health services.
Apart from these, Hope Communities will serve on-site residents with family stability and community engagement efforts. The nonprofit from Denver has 45 years of experience.
The Colorado Health Foundation provided the project site, adjacent parking, and funding, demonstrating its commitment to health equity and community well-being.
Funding Sources of the Project
The Tapestry’s housing tax credits are administered by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA). Vectra Bank is supporting the affordable housing project through a construction-to-permanent financing. The National Equity Fund is offering investment in the project for both federal and state tax credits.
Raza Development Fund is offering financial assistance in The Tapestry through Capital Magnet Funds. The City of Denver Housing Stability, Denver Housing Authority, and the Colorado Department of Local Affairs Division of Housing are providing additional support in the Uptown Denver-based project.
The deadline to complete construction on The Tapestry is by 2027.
