The countdown is on for DMV foodies hungry for their next dining obsession. Empanadas de Mendoza, a concept that started out on wheels and won over fans through its food truck operations, is preparing to open a new brick-and-mortar location in Reston next month, reports local media outlet The Burn.
The eatery will begin serving customers in its new 1478 North Point Village Center storefront in early December. Empanadas de Mendoza will be officially opening the doors of its new location on December 6, starting at 11 am. Guests will want to arrive early; the first 100 visitors will receive a free empanada and churro.
Co-owner Gabriela Steelman kindly offered What Now DC this statement about the restaurant’s origin and ethos: “We are an Argentinian Wife and American husband owned small business who have been passionate for serving great Argentinian food for 10 years now! Through the years we have grown through trial and error into who we are today, a company that loves to bring great tasting food to your family and our community with the best of Argentina.”
While DMV diners are correct to assume based on the name that Empanadas de Mendoza makes a mean empanada, Steelman assures future regulars that the restaurant has other delicious dishes up its sleeve. She states: “We do have great empanadas, but our new extended menu has authentic flavors like our Choripan sandwiches, Milanese’s, Argentinian pizzas and platters.”
As for the empanadas themselves, Reston diners will be able to choose from an impressive selection, including traditional options like beef alongside more innovative creations including pineapple chicken and spinach ricotta.
