Margarita Island Mexican Kitchen & Bar is expanding its culinary footprint once again.

The restaurant, loved for its Mexican fare and cocktails, is opening a restaurant at 1960 SR 44 in New Smyrna Beach by the end of 2025.

This will be Margarita Island’s fifth restaurant, with owner David Gonzalez sharing that opening in New Smyrna Beach has personal meaning. “I grew up in the area, so I’m excited to be here.” Gonzalez says the decision to open a fifth location came from demand from loyal guests. “We just opened a restaurant in Ormond Beach last May and people from New Smyrna Beach have been driving there. Now, they will have a Margarita Island in their own neighborhood.”

The new Margarita Island, according to Gonzalez, will have both indoor and outdoor patio seating for about 150 – 180 people total. Gonzalez is also hoping that the outdoor patio’s layout will allow it to be enjoyed by everyone. “We’re aiming for the outdoor space to be pet-friendly,” he says.

Guests will be able to enjoy the same food and cocktails as in the other locations. Favorite dishes include arroz con pollo, surf and turf burritos, sizzling fajitas, and churrasco. Margarita Island also offers weekday value-driven lunch specials, and an entire section catering to vegetarian offerings. There’s also a full bar with nearly two dozen different margaritas on the menu, along with an array of tequilas.

Gonzalez says he’s pleased that Margarita Island continues to get such positive reviews and hopes to continue the upward trajectory. “It’s an amazing brand,” he says.
