Belching Beaver Brewery, a San Diego-based craft beer company known for its lineup of IPAs, lagers, and stouts, is preparing to relocate from its North Park tasting room in San Diego at 4223 30th Street.
While the tasting room is set to close next year, the company is actively seeking a new address in North Park, according to SD Beer News. Owner Tom Vogel decided not to renew the lease on the current 2,500-square-foot space due to significant parking reductions in the area following the installation of new bike lanes. A farewell party is expected before the closure, and customers can expect Belching Beaver to remain local as it looks for a replacement site that either includes a kitchen or can support a kitchen buildout.
Belching Beaver’s North Park taproom originally opened in 2013 during an early stage of the neighborhood’s craft beer expansion. At the time, only two other breweries operated in the area: Poor House Brewing and Thorn Street Brewery, both less than a year old. The arrival of Belching Beaver helped shape what eventually became the largest concentration of brewery taprooms in any San Diego neighborhood. The location also followed the company’s broader strategy of expanding beyond its North County headquarters.
In addition to the North Park tasting room, the brewery operates several other locations, including its Oceanside brewhouse, Vista tavern and grill, and PUB980. These spaces serve as hubs for both core beers and rotating releases, giving customers consistent access to its brewing program. Relocating within North Park allows the company to maintain its connection to a district where craft beer has become a defining part of the local business landscape.
Belching Beaver is known for year-round offerings such as Tropical Terps Hazy IPA, Hazers Gonna Haze, Must Be The Honey Blonde, and Phantom Bride IPA, created in collaboration with the band Deftones. The brewery’s award-winning Peanut Butter Milk Stout remains one of its most recognizable beers, with accolades spanning multiple competitions and categories. These flagship selections continue to anchor the brand as it seeks a new home in North Park.
