One of Us, San Diego’s first women’s sports bar, is preparing to open its first permanent location in North Park at 3085 University Avenue.
The new sports bar is expected to take over the former home of URBN Coal Fired Pizza, which has operated for 15 years and is expected to close by the end of 2025, according to a recent liquor license application first reported by SanDiegoVille. One of Us is owned by Patricia Sebold and Kalani Millsaps, who have been developing the concept over the past year through pop-ups and community events. What Now reported on this concept earlier this year, when the team was searching for its first brick-and-mortar.
While the bar will prioritize women’s sports, men’s games will also be shown when they do not conflict with women’s games. The founders plan to make the North Park location family-friendly and community-oriented, featuring a full bar with beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails. Design and menu specifics have not yet been released.
Sebold and Millsaps started One of Us to create a space where women’s sports take center stage. The two noticed a lack of venues consistently showing women’s sports with the sound on, and launched pop-up watch parties at local venues, including 619 Spirits and Kairoa. The concept has since grown into a movement to empower fans and foster inclusivity. According to the founders, “One of Us is more than a sports bar—it’s a movement. Together, we’re not just watching history—we’re making it.”
The bar is currently raising funds to support its buildout and enhance the kitchen, bar, audiovisual setup, and decor. Contributions range from $25 for a limited edition shirt to $20,000 for perks such as VIP tickets and a two-year liquor locker.
San Diego has seen growth in women’s professional sports, including the San Diego Wave FC, and increased participation in youth and amateur leagues. Dedicated spaces for women’s sports remain limited, making One of Us a unique addition to the city’s sports and dining scene.
The North Park location is expected to open in 2026. This will be an excellent landing space for a community-focused sports bar celebrating women athletes.
