The PicklePort, a dedicated indoor and outdoor pickleball venue with food and drink options, is preparing to open in Myrtle Beach at Whispering Pines Golf Course.

The complex will occupy approximately six acres leased from the city, with construction slated to begin in late 2025 and a Grand Opening targeted for Summer 2026. The project will feature 12 climate-controlled indoor courts, four covered outdoor courts, and two courts with grandstands for tournaments. Customers can expect a snack bar offering coffee, smoothies, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and happy hour fare.

The PicklePort is designed to accommodate a range of players, from casual visitors to league participants. A smartphone-based reservation system will allow customers to book courts in advance for level-of-play matches, group or individual instruction, and challenge or league play. Additional amenities will include a reception area, pro shop, teaching and practice areas, and social spaces for spectators and gatherings.

The facility’s phased plan includes six additional outdoor courts, expanding its tournament and recreational capabilities. The location between the first and fourth tee boxes at Whispering Pines Golf Course, a city-owned property managed by Atlantic Golf Management, provides easy access for residents and tourists from Myrtle Beach, Market Commons, Carolina Forest, and Surfside. Total development costs are estimated at $5 million, with lease payments increasing gradually over the 20-year agreement.

On-site dining options will focus on light fare and beverages suitable for both players and spectators. The snack bar will serve coffee and smoothies, along with salads, sandwiches, wraps, and small plates, while happy hour offerings will cater to customers looking to unwind after play. The venue is designed as a social hub, combining recreational sports with casual dining in a comfortable setting.

The PicklePort will operate under both membership and walk-in models. Memberships will offer regular players advance court reservations and other perks, while walk-in customers can reserve courts for daily play. With climate-controlled indoor courts and covered outdoor options, players can enjoy games regardless of the weather, while taking advantage of fresh snacks, protein smoothies, and casual meals available on-site.
