A coffee company serving specialty Dubai brews is pursuing a brick-and-mortar location in the city.
Owner Nadeem Olayyan has been working on bringing Dubai Coffee to Chicago. He now has a truck he will be driving around Naperville, and will open a brick-and-mortar somewhere in Chicago city limits. Olayyan told What Now Chicago he is looking by the Park Hyatt hotel on N Rush Street in Near North Side.
The coffee truck has a unique setup, with a “semi-robotic” coffee machine inside that brews the drinks for serving. To operate, it uses solar panels on top, and is powered by lithium ion batteries. This is a project Olayyan has been working on since last year.
“It took about nine months of preparation,” Olayyan said.
Olayyan has spent time in both Dubai and Europe, and he is bringing over ingredients for his signature coffees. Healthy drinks with flavors like ginger and lemon are also options that will be available, along with pastries and cakes. He wanted the prices to be reasonable, so he will offer drinks at $5-6.
After the brick-and-mortar in Chicago is secured, Olayyan plans on opening another permanent storefront in Naperville. The Chicago brick-and-mortar is expected to open sometime this year. Until then, the truck will be at various events around the city, serving brews with Middle Eastern flavors.
