A beloved local chain is making its way to Maricopa.

Someburros is planning a restaurant in the city’s Stonegate retail center. According to PinalCentral.com, The restaurant group recently purchased 1.2 acres off West Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Stonegate Road.  The 3,500 square foot restaurant will include an outdoor patio and a convenient drive-thru. An opening date has not been announced.

This local restaurant, known for its Sonoran cuisine, is rapidly expanding. Last year, it announced that it would open four additional restaurants, and since then more have been planned, including a Surprise location that’s listed as opening summer 2026 on its website.

George and Mary Vasquez opened the first Someburros in Tempe in 1986, but the family’s restaurant roots can be traced back to 1972.  Still in the family, it’s now operated by Tim Vazquez, with his sister, Amy Vasquez heading the restaurant’s community relations efforts to ensure it continues to give back and stay involved with the communities that have supported it for decades.

‍The restaurant is beloved for its recipes that can be traced back three generations. Guests flock for its burros, along with tacos, bowls, chimichangas, and more. The restaurant also offers catering, and many locations have drive-thrus so busy families can enjoy a good meal on the go.
