Stella Jean’s and Pop Pie Co., two San Diego based food concepts, are getting ready to open new side by side locations in La Mesa at 8243 and 8247 La Mesa Boulevard.

The companies’ new locations are set to open in the former homes of Village Pet Salon and Act II, which relocated a few blocks away in 2024, according to San Diego Magazine. The La Mesa stores are expected to open in Summer 2026, with each concept occupying approximately 1,300 square feet. Customers can expect handcrafted ice cream from Stella Jean’s and a menu of savory and sweet pies from Pop Pie Co.

The La Mesa storefront will mark Stella Jean’s seventh location in San Diego County, according to a press release from Location Matters, though San Diego Magazine reports the opening as the brand’s ninth overall location. Stella Jean’s has built a strong local following with its small-batch approach and globally inspired flavors. The brand is known for rotating seasonal offerings and a focus on high-quality ingredients. The La Mesa Village shop continues its steady expansion across the region.

Next door, Pop Pie Co. will open what is reported as its sixth San Diego County location, or seventh overall, depending on public records. The concept has gained attention for its chef-driven take on classic pies. Its menu includes both savory and sweet options, all made from scratch. Pop Pie Co. has established locations throughout San Diego and Southern California.

Stella Jean’s menu centers on creative ice cream flavors made with locally sourced ingredients when possible. Offerings often include dairy-free and gluten-free options, as well as house-made waffle cones. Seasonal flavors rotate throughout the year, reflecting both global inspiration and local sourcing. The La Mesa location is expected to follow the same format as existing shops.

Pop Pie Co.’s menu features globally influenced pies with fillings inspired by cuisines from Australia, Europe, and Asia. In addition to pies, the concept also offers coffee and select baked goods. This will be an excellent landing space for both brands, given La Mesa Village’s walkable layout and steady local traffic. Together, the two concepts are expected to add a new food-focused destination to the neighborhood.
