From a mobile coffee bar to a food truck area, two locals of Mokena are promising a new destination for beer and bites in the village.
Emerald Social is a new tap house and truck park concept coming to 10020 W 191st Street later this year. It comes from owners of Emerald Cup mobile coffee shop, Katie McEnery and Kelly Devine. McEnery told What Now Chicago they are still figuring out when the ground breaking is taking place.
“We’re building more than a tap house and food truck park–we’re creating a community hub in Mokena where good food, local brews and great people come together,” says the description on their website.
The owners first announced in May of last year that the project was taking shape. At the time, the two presented a petition of support to the village board, and have since been given the green light. From conceptual photos, there will be an outdoor space with seating, lights and a grass area for playing games like cornhole.
On the food side, local favorite Pizza di Farfalla will be served at the location. Other food trucks and the beer menu have not yet been announced, but guests can expect local breweries in southern Chicagoland on tap. Businesses interested in serving at the space can still apply on Emerald Social’s website.
The new facility will break ground near the corner of 191st Street and 190th Street, close to The Promenade of Mokena. Restaurants in this plaza include El Cortez Mexican Restaurant and Jamo’s Live.
Updates on the ground breaking and opening date can be found on their Instagram @emeraldsocialtapsandtrucks.
