Delectable fudge and original ice cream is coming to the southwest suburb in the near future.
Kilwins has announced their newest franchised location is coming to 745 Village Center Drive in the downtown Burr Ridge shopping center. It is joining other restaurants like Bridewell Tavern set to open soon. Franchisee Nikit Tailor told What Now Chicago the opening date is sometime around April 28.
The new location is being introduced by Tailor and his friend Mayank Jethva. It will join the company’s many locations throughout Chicagoland and Chicago city limits. Tailor said he has wanted to open his own shop for a while as he is a long-time fan of the brand.
“It was a quick no-brainer decision for both of us,” Tailor said. He added he grew up enjoying Kilwins ice cream with his family.
Originally opened by Don and Katy Kilwin in 1947 in Petoskey, Michigan, Kilwins has become a household name for chocolate fudge and ice cream. The Burr Ridge shop will continue this tradition, serving ice cream flavors like chocolate peanut butter, cookies & cream and sea-salt caramel. The new location will also sell caramel apples, caramel corn, shakes and sodas.
The developing Burr Ridge Village Center is off of County Line Road near Interstate 55. Kilwins is near the center of the shopping area next to Bar Poca Madre. Other restaurants close to Kilwins are Topaz Cafe and The Hampton Social.
Tailor said construction has been moving ahead of schedule, and he and the team anticipates they will comfortably be able to open around late April. They plan to be very involved in the community and bring families to the area as this will be the shopping center’s first dessert option.
