Downtime, a new nightclub and restaurant concept, is getting ready to open in San Francisco’s Mission District at 2243 Mission Street.
The new concept will move into the former home of Bissap Baobab, according to SFist, with plans to debut in late Fall 2026. The approximately 6,000-square-foot space is currently undergoing renovations, including sound system upgrades and changes designed to emphasize the dance floor and nightlife atmosphere. Customers can expect a hybrid experience that blends food, cocktails, natural wine, and a club environment.
Downtime is being opened by the co-owners of Bar Part Time, the Mission District natural wine bar known for its dance party atmosphere and steady crowds. Dan Small, Jeremy Castillo, and Justin Dolezal are leading the new project, building on the popularity of their existing neighborhood hotspot. Bar Part Time has developed a reputation for combining low intervention wines with an energetic, late night setting.
Joining the ownership team at Downtime is Eric Ochoa, who will oversee the cocktail program. Ochoa is also associated with Dalva and has previously worked at ABV and Bar Agricole. His cocktail style is described as inventive yet classic, with drinks that are bright and balanced without leaning into overly complex techniques.
In addition to cocktails, Downtime will continue the zero-zero natural wine philosophy found at Bar Part Time. Zero-zero wines are produced with ultra-minimal intervention, with nothing added or removed, including sulfur. The wine list is expected to reflect a similar approach, focusing on expressive selections that align with the brand’s existing identity.
Food at Downtime will be handled by the team behind Rose Pizzeria, led by Gerad Gobel and Alexis Rorabaugh. Despite that connection, the concept will not serve pizza, with the menu expected to lean toward bar-focused offerings. With its size, updated sound system, and experienced hospitality team, the new venue aims to add another nightlife destination to the Mission District.
