Jollibee will open its doors for San Francisco diners next week. The much-anticipated restaurant opening was announced by Mayor Daniel Lurie on X. The Filipino restaurant will serve its famous fried chicken, burgers, and pies to the community.
San Francisco Will Welcome Long-Awaited Jollibee Opening
Jollibee will welcome guests on July 31 at 934 Market Street, near the Powell Street BART station. The project has been in discussions for the last six years, finally bringing its specialty food to the city.
The Mayor shared the news on social media. He noted that six years is too long for a business to wait. Therefore, through PermitSF, the authorities are cutting red tape to help businesses open and grow in San Francisco.
According to a report by The San Francisco Standard, the project began in 2020. However, it had to overcome several hurdles. These included permitting reviews, historic preservation approvals, and noise regulation compliance. All had to be resolved before the project received final clearance.
The opening marks Jollibee’s first restaurant in San Francisco since its previous Fourth Street location closed in 2011. The return is expected to add another downtown dining option. City leaders are working to bring life back to the Market Street corridor.
After six years, Jollibee is finally opening on Market Street. The beloved Filipino fast-food chain—known for its fried chicken, spaghetti, and peach mango pies—will open its doors July 31 at 934 Market Street, near the Powell Street BART station.
