Max and Issy’s Pizzeria will close on March 28 after several years in business. The decision comes after the owners of the eatery sold the building housing it. The space originally operated as an Irish pub before reopening as Max and Issy’s Pizzeria in 2021.

Max and Issy’s Pizzeria Says Goodbye to Chicago

Max and Issy’s Pizzeria is a casual restaurant with indoor and sidewalk dining, serving New York-style pizza and craft beer. In a social media post, the restaurant announced that it will close its doors by the end of March.

“It’s hard to believe we started this business nineteen years ago. First as Paddy Long’s and now as Max & Issy’s. It’s been an incredible run. But we are selling the building, and our last day of business will be March 28th,” the post read.

The eatery expressed its gratitude to all the customers who visited over the years and the crew who helped make the place what it is.  “A massive thank you to all of you who came for beer & bacon tastings, monkey spunks, pig roasts, and pizza over the years. And thanks to the incredible crew who work here and make this place what it is,” the post said.

Despite the upcoming closure, the restaurant said fans still have a few weeks left to visit.

Max and Issy’s Pizzeria Gives Fans a Few Final Weeks to Visit

Max and Issy’s Pizzeria noted that customers can stop by in the coming weeks before it closes its doors for good. “It has been a pleasure, so thank you, Chicago. There are still a few weeks left before we close the doors for the last time – so please stop by and say hi before we’re gone,” the post concluded.

Several followers poured in messages lamenting the closure and sharing memories they have of the restaurant from over the years.

One user said, “Loved this space ever since I got housed there on Framboise (when almost no one was pouring fruited Belgian beers) at like 3pm on a weekday back in the oughts. So many bacon bombs. Great times. Faretheewell, you lovely, well-curated neighborhood third space.”

With its final day set for March 28, Max and Issy’s Pizzeria will soon close a chapter that has been part of Chicago’s neighborhood dining scene for years.
