After the closure of a frozen yogurt shop, the owner has plans for a new fast-casual concept.
It was reported by Block Club Chicago that EtChi will be a new Turkish restaurant coming to 4701 N Lincoln Avenue In Lincoln Square. This comes from the owner of Oromo Cafe Ed Duman. An opening date has not yet been announced.
Market Square closed in November 2025 and was known for protein shakes, sandwiches and ice cream. Duman’s business is situated right next to Oromo Cafe, and is also across from Pastores Brunch. This is near Lincoln Square’s center and the Western Brown Line station.
Oromo Cafe first opened in August 2016, and serves coffees, matchas, and teas to the area. As Duman grew up in Turkey, he has wanted to bring Turkish cuisine to the city for a while.
“EtChi is inspired by the ancient oven-roasting traditions of Central Anatolia, where meat and bread were slowly cooked together in deep stone ovens. Rooted in pre-Ottoman culinary heritage, these methods celebrate patience, simplicity, and flavor. At the heart of EtChi stands the Tinuru dome oven, bringing this tradition to life through a modern fusion menu crafted for today’s Chicago table,” says the description on their website.
Customers can expect dishes with Turkish influence like slow-roasted grilled meats with stuffed vegetables. This will be a fusion approach, and staff are using a gas-fired stone oven to prepare the meats.
Duman and his team will be releasing more information on his new Turkish restaurant closer to the opening on their website.
