A pair of Memphis-area visionaries are preparing a true gift for local families, one they plan to have ready by a very special day for the community. Andrew Mathewes and Lindsey Shanmugasundaram have been working to turn the Railgarten space into Stomping Grounds, a multi-purpose establishment designed to cater to both adults and children and aim to be ready for guests by 901 Day, reports Daily Memphian.

Stomping Grounds is bringing food, fun, and fellowship to 2166 Central Avenue. Renovations will turn the building into an indoor play paradise, with ample space for energetic visitors and those who prefer a calmer environment alike. A 16-foot-tall play structure will provide plenty of opportunity for kiddos to tire themselves out, while conference rooms will offer a quiet space for young and older alike to get some work done. Mathewes explains: “Kids could do their homework or parents could have a meeting during the day if they work hybrid.”

A self-service tap wall promises to be a particular centerpiece of Stomping Grounds. The website describes how this unique feature will work, saying: “The self-service tap walls will be RFID-based with a wristband, allowing adults to walk up, swipe, and pour a drink. The wristband will have an ID on file, and the wall will also be attended at all times. The system will be set to cap out alcoholic drink servings at a level suited for a family play business. It’s not just for beer and wine either: we’ll have near beer, cold brew, kombucha, craft soda, and more!”

Wild Beet Salad Co.-already open and serving happy customers-will be the on-site restaurant, serving delicious and healthy cuisine to hungry visitors. An elevated but accessible dining option is part of Stomping Grounds vision for a space that appeals to both grown-ups and children. Mathewes states: “It’s the kind of place where families can come for breakfast and stay all the way through dinner without ever needing to leave — a true all-day destination and a dream setup for parents.”

Mathewes and Shanmugasundaram are aiming to have Stomping Grounds ready for visitors on or close to September 1 or 901 Day, a day all about celebrating Memphis pride.
