Just a week after news broke of a second Sacramento-area outpost, Dapper Doughnut’s Elk Grove expansion is coming into sharper focus.
The made-to-order mini doughnut concept will occupy Suite 100 at 9624 Bruceville Rd in the Elk Grove Commons retail center, according to the chain’s website. While franchisee Jasreet Barn has not yet finalized the lease or officially confirmed the exact address, she told What Now Sacramento that the shop is slated to occupy a roughly 1,300-square-foot space at the center.
The Elk Grove shop will follow a Rocklin location that’s already under construction, marking the brand’s first steps into the California market. That shop is currently targeting a late spring 2026 opening, with Elk Grove expected to follow once leasing, permitting, and planning fall into place.
Barn, who has committed to a 10-territory development plan across Northern California, said both locations will showcase Dapper Doughnut’s signature approach: hot, fresh, made-to-order mini doughnuts available throughout the day.
“We’re really looking to bring a new experience to donut shops and kind of scratch that old idea of first come, first serve,” she said. “We want that concept of ready-to-make donuts available all day long.”
The menu is expected to mirror the brand’s core offerings, including a mix of classic and inventive flavors alongside doughnut milkshakes, ice cream, and espresso-based drinks. Looking ahead, Barn has set her sights set on tailoring the experience to each market.
“Once we open up both locations, we’ll conduct market research to make sure that we’re able to really get an idea of consumer preference,” she explained. “From there, we’re able to curate local flavors that really resonate with our demographic in that area.”
Beyond brick-and-mortar shops, Barn’s broader vision includes a fleet of mobile units. Each territory in her development agreement allows for both a storefront and a food trailer—an approach designed to extend the brand’s reach across the region.
“There’s no definitive answer if our third location will be a storefront or a food trailer,” Barn said. “But there will be food truck models in the future, so we’ll be catering to a larger demographic and covering a lot more territory in that sense.”
That flexibility is central to the rollout strategy, which could eventually bring up to 20 Dapper Doughnut locations—split between retail shops and mobile units—to cities including Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, Davis, San Jose, and San Francisco.
