Cocktail expert Masahiro Urushido, the man behind the award-winning West Village spot Katana Kitten, is preparing to launch a new casual concept in Chelsea called The Winters Coming. Located at 204 7th Avenue, the restaurant will center its bar-friendly menu on Japanese home-cooking, with standout dishes set to include Fish Korokke with saffron daikon and a Japanese breakfast sandwich featuring teriyaki bacon and ume hot sauce on a toasted sesame bagel. The kitchen is meant to be a focal point of the operation and will remain open from noon to 1 a.m. daily, which will cater to both the lunch crowd and late-night diners.

According to an application filed with the city, the beverage program will evoke a cozy neighborhood bar vibe. While details on the cocktail program have not been made public, Urushido has applied for a full liquor license to support a visionary drink menu. The bar will have a rotating selection of seasonal drink specials inspired by the four seasons. What Now New York has reached out for more information.

The service style at The Winters Coming is designed to be intimate and hospitable, with Urushido planning to be on-site at least five days a week. The interior decor will transform the currently vacant space through cosmetic upgrades, with indoor bar and table seating able to accommodate up to 50 guests. There are plans to offer outdoor cafe seating for up to six guests.
