A longtime New Jersey diner is entering a new chapter with a new name and new ownership.
The Malaga Diner, which closed in 2023, is set to reopen as Jersey Diner & Restaurant at 3433 Harding Hwy. The family-owned spot will be led by Yilmaz Kangal, who brings experience in the diner industry.
“We’ve been in the diner and restaurant business for over 30 years. We have another location in Millville called Millville Queen Diner, and Queen II Restaurant in Vineland. We sold that second one, and now we’re going to open this one,” Kangal told What Now Philadelphia.

The remodeled dining room features gray upholstered booths and light wood seating set against white marble-patterned tables and plank flooring. The space is highlighted with crystal chandeliers and vibrant blue and green LED accents. Faux-stone walls and framed landscape art finish the interior.
The menu will build on what the former spot offered.
“We will have more options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We’re going to have a lot of choices—more Italian food, more seafood. We’re going to have our own bakery and breads. We’re going to have a salad bar,” he said.
Kangal is eager to welcome guests into Jersey Diner & Restaurant.
“This place has been in business for over 60 years. After three years, a lot of people have been waiting for this place. We renovated good. I know people are very excited to see inside and for the food,” he said.
Jersey Diner & Restaurant plans to reopen on April 20. Once open, it will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., including holidays.
