Krispy Kreme Files WARN Notice for Bronx Facility

Krispy Kreme is a national doughnut and coffee chain, founded in 1937. The brand is best known for its Original Glazed doughnuts. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, the brand has a combination of company-owned and franchised locations nationwide.

The brand filed the WARN notice with the New York Department of Labor, indicating the layoffs will impact its facility at 535 Havemeyer Avenue in the Bronx. The layoffs are scheduled to take place on April 30. The company did not provide any reason for the mass workforce reduction.

The move comes as Krispy Kreme continues to refine its business strategy and optimize operations. Recently, the company has focused on efforts to enhance efficiency and help in long-term growth.

In a recent announcement, the company laid out its plans to advance its turnaround strategy by concentrating on a less capital-intensive growth model through refranchising. This model involves transferring ownership of certain locations to franchise partners while maintaining brand oversight.

This strategy enables the company to cut down capital investments and enhance returns.
