The Playground Café is set to reopen on May 1, 2026, in California at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 500 Robinson Rd, Sebastopol, on a three-acre property.

What Now spoke to one of the co-owners, Urban Anderson, who confirmed that the café was indeed reopening and rebranding.

Anderson told the publication that the café bar will operate under a new business model built around three distinct revenue streams, such as a “grab-and-go bowl concept,” with fresh bowls released twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

He also expressed that the meals would all be “protein-forward,” served with fresh salads, catering to health-conscious customers in a family-friendly setting. The entrepreneur also noted that this initiative will be run in partnership with other businesses they operate, signaling a collaborative approach to the café’s relaunch.

He also shared that the cafe has produced 15 different flavors, which they will be offering to their customers.

“The meals are made with high-quality ingredients, including organic meats and healthy oils, and aim to balance nutrition for busy lifestyles,” said Anderson.

The café will operate primarily on weekends and is designed to be a family-friendly environment where adults can gather with their children and loved ones to enjoy a play outdoor structure while grown-ups relax as they sip on a glass of wine or beer.

“It’s much bigger than just a café; our outdoor service is really geared to being a community gathering space for families. The kids can go play in our well-structured area,” Anderson explained.

The eatery also plans on expanding, including partnerships with businesses for meal subscriptions and potential locations in airports, hospitals, and wellness centers.

As the relaunch approaches, locals can look forward to a space designed to bring people together while offering convenient, high-quality meals.
