After 31 years of operating at the same location, the longtime local favorite Massés Sports Bar & Grill is relocating to a new address in downtown Walnut Creek, according to the Bay Area Telegraph. The bar will be located at 1411 Locust St., with plans to open within the next 90 days, pending permitting and city approvals.

The move comes after more than three decades operating out of its original North Main Street location, which closed in February 2026 due to a redevelopment project in the area. Preparations for the new space are already underway.

According to co-owner Melisa Barrett, who runs the business alongside Eric Paden, the goal is to reopen as quickly as possible while keeping the long-time team in place and staying connected to the bar’s loyal customer base.

Barrett also emphasized the importance of community in this next chapter. Known for hosting events, the business plans to continue offering a space for people to connect and celebrate.

“We’re a family-owned small business, and we are extremely grateful for having the support and camaraderie from all of our regulars. It really shows us what we’ve built over the years and what we are going to continue to build”, says Melisa to Whatnow San Francisco.

Originally opened in 1994, Massés built its reputation as one of the Bay Area’s traditional sports bars. The former location featured more than 40 TVs, 25 beers on tap, pool tables, shuffleboards, and regular events.

The new location is expected to be smaller than the original space. However, the team was able to keep much of its original equipment, including custom pool tables that have been part of the bar since 1993.

As for the menu, guests can expect classic sports bar favorites, including nachos, chicken bites, buffalo wings, salads, burgers, and other shareable options.
