A growing Southern comfort food chain is expanding its footprint in San Diego, with a second location of Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken reportedly in the works for East County at 2650 Jamacha Road, Unit 123, in El Cajon, according to SanDiegoVille.
The El Cajon outpost is expected to open in 2026, though a more precise timeline had not been announced at the time of publication by franchisee owner Jason Kasid, who holds a multi-unit deal to bring at least five locations to San Diego and was also behind the brand’s first local outpost near San Diego State University, according to an article published by WhatNow San Diego in June 2023.
Headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken is partnered with the franchise development firm Fransmart and is part of its portfolio of emerging brands. Franchisee Jason Kasid points to the concept’s operational model as a key driver behind his expansion plans, according to the company’s website.
“Rise allows entrepreneurs like me the opportunity to own an easy-to-operate business with the full training, marketing, and operational support,” Kasid said, adding that he is “excited to bring the nation’s most in-demand chicken and biscuit concept to the San Diego market,” according to Fransmart.
With the first San Diego franchise location already open at 6364 El Cajon Boulevard, the planned El Cajon site would mark another step in Kasid’s broader multi-unit expansion across the region, according to a previously published article by WhatNow San Diego.
