Uncle Nicky’s is closing its original Hyde Park location in Austin after eight years in business. The restaurant will serve customers for the last time on April 26. The restaurant team plans to host final celebrations throughout the weekend and will offer great deals on drinks.

Uncle Nicky’s to Close This Weekend After Eight Years

A longtime Austin favorite cafe, Uncle Nicky’s Italian Specialties, is closing its Hyde Park location. In a social media post, the restaurant team announced the closure.

The restaurant team said, “After eight years, we’ve decided to close our Hyde Park location, with final service on Sunday, April 26.”

With an emotional message, the team continued, “Hyde Park is where Uncle Nicky’s began—where we found our footing, built our community, and shaped what this place could be.”

The café became known for its relaxed dining atmosphere and modern take on Italian cuisine. The menu features sandwiches, homemade pasta, and desserts, paired with classic cocktails and wines. With its all-day service model, the restaurant became a neighborhood staple.

In the post, the team said the concept had grown beyond its original vision over time.

“Somewhere along the way, things got a little… bigger than we meant them to. And we keep coming back to the version we love most—a little tighter, a little simpler, a little more like the cafés we’ve been chasing all along,” said the team.

Following the closure announcement, loyal fans of Uncle Nicky’s expressed their sadness on social media.

Final Week Celebrations Begin on Friday

To mark its final weekend, Uncle Nicky’s will host a series of discounted service days. From Friday, April 24, 2026, through Sunday, April 26, 2026, the eatery will offer wines, cocktails, and sandwiches at discounted prices.

Customers can enjoy classic cocktails at $5, with wines and well drinks at $7. All sandwiches will be half off.

“Before we go, we’re doing one last weekend the right way,” said the team. “Join us for one last weekend together. Come by, stay a while, and have ‘one more.’”

Uncle Nicky’s originally started its journey in 2019, with an aim to offer an upscale Italian dining experience at a comfortable cafe-style setting. The restaurant will continue its operations at its South Lamar location.

As the final week approaches, the restaurant remains focused on celebrating it with the community.
