Yard Bar is preparing to permanently close its doors by the end of May. Located on Burnet Road in Austin, the dog-friendly park and bar will serve its final drink on Saturday, May 30.

The eatery plans to celebrate its final month of business with special events. Updates about the final week celebrations will be shared on social media and through email.

Austin’s Yard Bar to Close Soon

A community favorite spot for Austin dog owners is shutting down soon. After over a decade of service, Yard Bar has announced its permanent closure and set May 30, 2026, as its final day.

The team shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, “With deepest gratitude for the people and dogs who made this place feel like a backyard hangout that was comforting, fun, and full of heart—I’m writing to share that Yard Bar’s last day of operations will be Saturday, May 30, 2026, after 11 exceptional years.”

The bar thanked pet owners, guests, and staff for years of support.

“You trusted us with your dogs and made yourselves at home in our yard as if it were your own. Lifelong friendships were built here. Your dogs grew up here, made friends here, and spent both their first days and their last days here. What an incredible honor that has been.”

In the official announcement, the Yard Bar team said the closure was driven by financial challenges.

“Our decision to close is purely a math problem. It is not a reflection of the deep love we have for this community of team members, people, and pets who made Yard Bar the best dog park ever,” explained the team.

About the Pet-Friendly Bar

Owned by Kristen Heaney Clark, Yard Bar opened in North Austin in 2015, with a unique concept of a dog-friendly bar and off-leash park. It quickly became one of Austin’s most recognizable dog-friendly destinations.

Along with its large fenced dog park, Yard Bar also offers food and drink services. The eatery features a casual atmosphere and allows customers to bring their dogs while they relax and enjoy a meal and drink.

It serves a variety of beers, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, the bar is known for hosting birthday parties, social meetups, pet adoption events, and other gatherings.

As the final days approach, the dog-friendly bar encourages customers to stop by. “We still have a lot to celebrate, and we’ll be sharing special events, offerings, and ways to make the most of these final weeks together,” said the team.

Yard Bar will remain open through May 30 and plans to host special events before its closure. The shutdown of Yard Bar will leave behind a significant gap in the Austin dining landscape.
