Story Behind the Neighborhood Pizzeria

Chicago-based Fat Chris’s Pizza was founded in 2017. With the pizzeria, Michael and Violeta aimed to offer the authentic Detroit special pizza in their neighborhood. Over time, with its authentic style, approachable prices, and delicious flavors, it became a staple.
According to the Block Club Chicago report, since the closure announcement, the restaurant has received “a rush of orders, with sales almost doubling.” However, the owners explained that it is still not enough to continue the operations. In the report, the owners have stated that the increasing costs have made the business hard to sustain.
The closure of Fat Chris’s Pizza and such will mark a significant loss for the Chicago dining landscape.
