Bright Beginnings Day Care Center and Learning Academy Corp has filed for bankruptcy proceedings. The San Juan, Puerto Rico-based early childhood education and daycare provider is seeking to restructure its finances under court supervision.
Daily operations are expected to continue without disruption as the court oversees the restructuring process.
Bright Beginnings Day Care Center and Learning Academy Corp Enters Bankruptcy
After offering its daycare and early childhood education-based services for nearly nine years, the company filed for bankruptcy on May 8, 2026.
Case filings, as available on PACER, state that the company has qualified as a small business debtor. Based on this, it has elected to proceed under Subchapter V of the Chapter 11 proceedings. This provision allows businesses to complete restructuring more quickly and at lower cost than traditional Chapter 11 cases.

Company Faces Over $900,000 in Unsecured Claims
Case filings show that Bright Beginnings Day Care Center and Learning Academy Corp has listed up to 49 creditors in total. Out of these, 20 have made the largest claims, which collectively amount to more than $900,000.
The Small Business Administration in Fort Worth, Texas, holds the largest claim at more than $830,000, tied to a COVID-era loan. Other creditors include Platinum Properties LLC, Luma Energy, LLC, and IMEX America.
Court filings indicate that funds will be available for distribution to the unsecured creditors.
