Tim Hortons, the Canadian quick service restaurant chain known for its coffee, donuts, and breakfast offerings, is investing in 65 projects across Quebec as part of a broader $400 million CAD expansion and renovation plan happening across Canada.
The nationwide investment includes 400 restaurant renovations and 80 new locations scheduled through 2026, according to Retail Insider. In Quebec alone, the company plans to complete 51 renovations and open 14 new restaurants. The majority of the funding comes directly from Canadian franchise owners, with 280 owners contributing to renovation projects and 60 funding new restaurant development. Tim Hortons corporate is also investing an additional $130 million CAD into the initiative.
The company says the renovations are designed to modernize restaurants while improving customer flow and service efficiency. Planned upgrades include brighter dining rooms, updated baked-goods displays, improved digital ordering and pickup areas, and new kitchen equipment to support faster, more accurate service. Tim Hortons also stated that the redesigns will include elements celebrating Canadian heritage and local communities.
Quebec will be one of the company’s larger areas of investment outside Ontario, with 214 total projects expected. While the expansion remains national in scope, the number of planned renovations and openings across Quebec highlights the province as a major focus for the brand’s continued growth. Other provinces receiving significant investment include Alberta with 66 projects and British Columbia with 51.
The company also emphasized the Canadian supply chain and labor involved in the construction effort. According to Tim Hortons, the projects will support tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, roofers, and contractors across the country. The company added that furniture used in renovated restaurants is handcrafted in Montréal using Canadian maple, while signage and artwork are sourced from Canadian suppliers and artists.
Tim Hortons first opened in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1964 and has since grown into Canada’s largest quick-service restaurant chain. Today, the company operates nearly 4,000 restaurants across Canada and more than 6,000 locations globally. According to the company’s website, more than 1,500 Canadian restaurant owners operate Tim Hortons locations nationwide, employing over 100,000 people in communities across the country.
