One of the DMV’s most anticipated restaurant arrivals is setting out to ensure that summer of 2026 is one of the hottest on record for the area dining scene. Phia, an exciting new concept helmed by Chef Brad Feickert, is getting ready to make DC sizzle with Appalachian flavors and hospitality, with an opening planned for late summer.
With a name inspired by Feickert’s grandmother Sophia, Phia will be opening at 304 Carroll Street, NW in the space that previously housed La Mano Coffee Bar. The restaurant will be bringing “Appalachian grassroots cuisine” to Takoma, with a projected opening date at some point in August.
While the DC dining scene is a crowded and busy one, Phia will be bringing something unique to the neighborhood and inviting visitors to experience the distinctive flavors of Appalachia. A press release pertaining to the concept explains that the restaurant “honors the grit, generosity, and deep-rooted traditions of mountain life, celebrating the resourceful, soulful cooking that sustained generations in Appalachia’s hollers and hills.”
Dylan Greer will be overseeing the beverage program which will further reflect Phia’s roots; highlighting Appalachian-sourced ingredients, the drinks will beautifully compliment the restaurant’s fare.
Enthusiastic foodies can follow Phia’s Instagram page for opening updates.
Phia’s arrival is poised to be one of the most momentous openings of not only the summer but the year. As Feickert stated to MoCo Show: “Phia is about more than food, it’s about honoring where we come from, and creating a place where people feel at home.”
